“Salt of the Earth” Wisdom What inspired me to embrace the “salty” concept for this site is the Biblical passage found in Matthew 5:13 where Jesus talks to His disciples about being the “Salt of the Earth” and “The Light of the World”, during The Sermon on the Mount. Ghandi was known to have been inspired by this topic as well as he referred to Jesus' words recognizing the simplicity as well as the incredibly deep and enlightening aspects of the message. There are so many subjects within the Oceanic theme that are beneficial to humans that Salty Mermaid delights in the imparting of wisdom to others by offering life-enhancing information that can be easily applied. Several definitions I’ve found on the salt of the earth say: “decent, dependable & unpretentious; admirable qualities”. A “man worth his salt” was said to be efficient and capable. I think all of these are true as well as the simple concept that salt is flavorful, healing, rejuvenating, preserving, life sustaining and abundant in our Earth for a reason. More people having such qualities as this would make this world a better place, I believe, so my quest is to become as salty as possible, and encourage such growth in others! Life and living are gifts we can better treasure when made aware of the bounty the Earth provides and freely bestows upon those who seek such wisdom and understanding. Travel, experience and education having to do with the seven seas and the many foreign lands in between makes Salty Mermaid a goldmine to inquire upon as often as necessary concerning all aspects of healthful living. The vital quality of salt is undeniable, and is such a basic element of life on our planet that its many benefits will be incorporated with other nuggets of wisdom and appreciation cultivated during my lifetime. There are many grains of salt to be savored, each with life sustaining forces created to better our world. Salty Mermaid would like to bring you select grains of salt she has found helpful, and is eager to share with others the same knowledge. Research into many of these treasures is ongoing and will be delivered regularly to those seeking a better way. Being the salt of the earth is not only an on-going quest, but also an adventurous challenge with tasty rewards (the salt makes everything "taste ' better). I look forward to teaching others about the fascinating jewels that can be found in our world which I've found through years of study and oceanographic wisdom. The salty sea is older than humankind, older than the continents or any land. The waters were created as God’s footstool, a foundation to build upon. Our salty seas are constantly self-cleaning because of salt (another brilliant invention), and good thing too because unfortunately humans dump toxins in it regularly. Despite this, there are many natural healing treasures available to us that wouldn't exist without Our Big Blue ready to save the day. There are so many healing forces that come from the Ocean and the more I learn the more enthralled I am with the essence of it and why it has always been such an important part of my life. I grew up near the sea so I love everything about it. It is also fun for me to investigate the many treasures so abundantly found within it. That isn't even mentioning all the new discoveries that come from new positive research findings on the benefits of things like: algae, seaweed and coral. No wonder so many people love the Ocean. It has the ability to create lasting memories impressed upon the heart and soul as well as the mind. To be the salt of the earth in our day in age is a challenge because it means taking on a pro-active stance, bent on preserving goodness, cleansing our bodies, our environment and encouraging passion, hope, faith and love . Let us never take for granted the many gifts this earth and its waters bestow upon humankind. I wish to remain a salty individual, a nugget of salt of the earth, whose flavor only intensifies through the ages. It is my hope and desire that others gain insight and wisdom through this site, allowing more vibrant health and happiness in life; one that resembles the salt of the earth in its essence and meaning. I'll continue to pray for Peace on Earth as it is in Heaven. May salt of the earth and lights of the world increase in number and abundance, blessing people everywhere; from sea to shining sea. |
